Services Held For Former Minister

Services for Rev. Arthur P. Keast, 86, who died Sunday of a heart attack at Wesley Acres in Des Moines where he had been residing, were held this morning (Wednesday) at 10:00 a.m. at Dunn's Funeral Home. Burial was at noon at the Worthington Cemetery, rural Earlham.

Born in Billings, Montana, the Rev. Mr. Keast had lived in Des Moines since retiring as pastor of the Creston United Methodist Church in 1957. He was a graduate of Simpson College and of the Boston University School of Theology.

He was pastor of Trinity Methodist Church in Des Moines for many years and served as pastor of the Winterset Methodist Church from 1927 to 1933 and had served at Earlham and Worthington.

Survivors include his wife Elsie and two foster daughters, Mrs. John Darlington of Des Moines and Mrs. Rex O'Cain of Montana.

Mrs. Keast is a sister of Jesse McBride of Winterset and the late Charles McBride.

Former City Pastor Dies

Word has been received here of the death of the Rev. Arthur Phillip Keast, former pastor of the United Methodist Church in Fairfield, who died of a heart attack Sunday at Wesley Acres in Des Moines.

He had made his home in Des Moines since his retirement as pastor of the Creston United Methodist Church in 1957.

Rev. Keast served the Fairfield United Methodist Church from 1942 through 1945 and is remembered by a number of Fairfield residents.

Last rites will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial will be at Worthington Cemetery in Earlham.

Rev. Keast was born in Millings, Mo., and was a graduate of Simpson College and Boston University School of Theology.

He was pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church in Des Moines for many years and was past superintendent of the Ottumwa District of the United Methodist Church.

Rev. Keast is survived by his widow, two foster daughters, Mrs. John Darlington, Des Moines, and Mrs. Rex O'Cain, Noxon, Mont.; and seven grandchildren.
