ROY CRISS Died Jan. 16 At Newton

Roy J. Criss, a native of the Winterset community, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 1955, at Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton, according to word received here last week. Mr. Criss was 62 years of age. His death resulted from a heart attack.

Born at Winterset on May 24, 1892, a son of Hudson and Laura Criss, he had operated the Rialto Barber shop in Newton for 36 years. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a charter member of the American Legion post at Newton, and was active in the National Guard there. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Last Man's Club.

He is survived by his wife, the former Florence E. Bartlett, who he married at Pippillon, Nebr., in 1920. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Wray Hindershot of Sacramento, Calif.

Funeral services were held Jan. 18 at Newton in charge of the Rev. Joseph Gregori, pastor of St. Stephen's Episcopal church there. He was buried with military honors at Newton Union cemetery.
