Wednesday, January 26, 1955MRS. LILLIAN MACUMBER, Former Winterset Resident Died Jan. 20.
Mrs. Lillian Macumber, a native of Winterset, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 1955, at her home in Des Moines of a heart attack. She was 59 years of age.
Mrs. Macumber was the former Lillian Allen, daughter of Melvin and Cora Allen of this community. She was born in Winterset July 26, 1895, and lived here until after her marriage to Otto Macumber. For the past 31 years her home had been in Des Moines.
Her death came suddenly. She had not been ill, and had worked that day at Davidson's store, where she had been employed the last two years.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Tom Cooper, and a granddaughter, both of Des Moines; her mother, Mrs. Cora Brown of Winterset; two sisters, Mrs. Wilma Henrich of Winterset and Mrs. Veda Olson of Rapid City, South Dakota; and four brothers, Ray Allen of Winterset; Kenneth Allen of Earlham; and Sterling and Bernard Allen, both of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday in Des Moines in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, former pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in Highway Memory gardens there.
