Wednesday, July 6, 1955REX M. SNYDER Killed While Working Friday in Des Moines
Rex M. Snyder of St. Charles was instantly killed last Friday, July 1, 1955, while working at the plant of the Pittsburg-Des Moines Steel company, where he had been employed as a welder for four years. His death resulted from electrocution. He was 40 years of age.
Mr. Snyder had been a resident of Madison county since 1926. He was born on a farm near Greenfield on July 27, 1914, a son of George V. and Nettie Snyder. He came to Madison county with his parents in 1926, and since then had lived in or near Winterset and St. Charles.
During World War II, he served five years in the U. S. Army, spending 18 months overseas.
His father preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nettie Snyder; and two sisters, Mrs. Claude Drake of Des Moines and Mrs. Leonard Bindel of Winterset.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Joe King, formerly of St. Charles. The American Legion participated with its ritual. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
