February 1960Retired Employee of Rock Island Was 70 Years Of Age
Ernest Kay, a resident of the Patterson community for many years, died Monday, Feb. 15, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 70 years of age.
Mr. Kay was born in Warren county on July 18, 1889, a son of Reuben and Mary Childers Kay. His childhood was spent in Warren and Polk counties, but in 1901 he came with his parents to Patterson. Since then, his home had been in that community.
He had retired after long employment with the Rock Island railroad at Patterson.
He was married Aug. 7, 1929, to Toy Streeter of Indianola, who survives him. He also leaves three sisters, Mabel Kay of Winterset, Mrs. Jessie Anderson of Des Moines and Mrs. Edna Robinson of Winterset.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday from Anderson's home for funerals in Winterset. Burial was to be made in the McGinnis cemetery.
