WALTER SILLIMAN DIED ON MONDAY

World War I Veteran, 50, Survived by Eight Children

Walter Silliman, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Monday at the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines. He was 50 years of age.

Mr. Silliman was born Oct. 4, 1895, near Peru, the son of Charles and Mary Moore Silliman. He was married to Neola Felton, and they were the parents of eight children.

He was a veteran of World War I, in which he served in a machine gun company of the 161st. regiment, Sunset division.

He is survived by his aged mother; his wife; the eight children, Mrs. Darlene Mahan of Indianola, Deane H. Silliman of Santa Rosa, Calif., Donald Silliman of the U.S. navy, and Doyle, Delores, Dickie, Dwayne, and Devite, at home. He also leaves three grandchildren, three sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. W. A. Samp. Burial will be made in the Peru cemetery.
