Gene T. Kagarice, Winterset

Services for Gene T. Kagarice, 58, rural Winterset, who died May 19 at his residence, will be held Thursday, May 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial will be at the Booneville Cemetery.

Born at East Lynne, Mo., on Oct. 8, 1927, he was the son of Charles and Hattie Groce Kagarice. He was a retired employee of Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in Des Moines.

He was married to Ilene McNair Johnson on June 9, 1968 at Des Moines. He had lived in Madison County since 1971 and formerly lived in Van Meter. He was a member of the Madison County Coon Hunters Association.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Jeannie Utsler of Winterset, Irene Hill of Irvine, Calif., Tamara Kagarice of Kansas City, Kan.; step-daughters, Linda Aldrich of Van Meter, Jane Silvers of Des Moines and Karen Johnson of Florence, Colo.; brothers, Carl, Jack, Don, Walter, John and Bob Kagarice of Missouri; sisters, Emma Cooley, Hazel Smith and Mildred Leavill of Missouri; and grandchildren, DeAnn Harvey of Winterset, Jerry and James Aldrich of Van Meter and Lisa Silvers of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from noon to 9:00 p.m.
