Was One of Madison County's Oldest Residents; 89 Years of Age

One of Madison county's oldest residents, Mrs. Jane Starr, died Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. C. Callison, of Lincoln township. Mrs. Starr was 89 years old and had been an invalid for the past eight months.

Mrs. Starr was a life-long resident of Iowa, and had lived most of her life in Madison county. She was born in Polk county, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Purcell. As a young girl she came with her parents to Madison county and spent the remainder of her life here.

She was married in 1875 to James B. Starr. Their active years were spent in farming, south of Winterset, until their retirement in 1910, when they moved into Winterset. Mr. Starr died in 1922, and in recent years Mrs. Starr had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Callison.

She is survived by a son, C. A. Starr of Newton; the daughter, Mrs. Callison; and 10 grandchildren. The other children, C. G. Starr and Mrs. Clara Bertholf, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 3 p.m., from Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W. P. Gordon, pastor of the Winterset United Presbyterian church. Burial will be made in the Clark cemetery in Lincoln township.
