SAMUEL H. SMITH DIES AT MACKSBURG

Veteran Farmer Buried Last Friday at Cemetery at Dexter

Samuel H. Smith died June 26 at the home of his son, Harry Smith of Macksburg, with whom he had been living the past two years. He was 85 years of age.

Mr. Smith was the youngest son of Jeremiah and Lucinda Smith, and was born June 10, 1860, in Johnson county. When he was five years old he moved with his parents to Benton county, where his early life was spent. He completed his education with attendance at the academy at Vinton.

He was married June 20, 1893 to Lillie Taylor of McGregor. She preceded him in death in 1920.

His surviving children are Mrs. Ray Wall of Guthrie Center, Hary Smith of Macksburg, and Mrs. Wayne Kenyon of Guthrie Center. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Macksburg Methodist church, and burial was made in the cemetery at Dexter.
