Well-Known Farmer Succumbs to Heart Attack at Age of 74 Years

John Thomas, a well-known Madison county farmer and a resident of this county since 1892, succumbed to a heart attack here on Wednesday of last week. He was 74 years of age.

Mr. Thomas was born near Salem, Ia., on April 4, 1871, the son of Lewis and Emily Thomas. His youth was spent in Lee county. He came to Madison county in 1892 and the rest of his life was spent here.

He was married to Lillie C. Bond on March 13, 1894. They were the parents of four children, two of whom died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Charles A. Thomas of Metuchan, N. J., a daughter, Mrs. Ivy Dragoo of Sumner; a sister, Mrs. Leona Cramer of Kansas City, Mo., and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Oak Grove church in charge of the Rev. L. V. McEleny, pastor. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
