HARRY CHILDERS Died Wednesday

Harry Childers, well-known Winterset resident, died Wednesday morning, May 25, 1955, at Madison County Memorial hospital. Mr. Childers, who was 68 years of age, suffered a severe heart attack last Saturday morning, and was taken to the local hospital for treatment.

Funeral services for Mr. Childers will be held Friday afternoon, May 27, at 2:30 p.m. from the Anderson Home for Funerals here.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Childers, he was born in Winterset on Dec. 17, 1886. His early life was spent in this community, and on Aug. 15, 1915, he was married to the former Edna Rees.

From 1919 to 1926, Mr. Childers operated a Ford agency at Gilmore City, Iowa. Returning to Winterset, he was employed at the Winterset Ford garage, and later was associated with Pat Cline in a local garage. Since July 1, 1935, when the new Winterset post office opened, he has been employed by the federal postal department here.

Mr. Childers is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Robert Benoit of Winterset; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Green of Des Moines; and one brother, Ernest Childers. He was preceded in death by five brothers.

Officiating at the services this Friday afternoon will be the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the local Methodist church. Burial will be in the Winterset cemetery.
