Theodore A. Tilton, a well known farmer and a life-long resident of Madison county, died at his home near Winterset, Thursday, March 10, 1955. He was 65 years of age. He had been in rapidly failing health for several months.
Mr. Tilton was born in Webster township on Feb. 8, 1890, a son of Thomas Warren and Phoebe Ellen Tilton. He was a veteran of World War I, having served 15 months overseas with the U. S. armed forces.
He was a member of the Winterset Christian church, in which he was serving as deacon at the time of his death.
Mr. Tilton was married Aug. 12, 1929, to Clara Clampitt. They were parents of a son, Teddy Wayne Tilton, now serving in the U. S. Air Force and stationed at Randolph Field, San Antonio, Tex.
In addition to wife and son, he leaves a grandson; two brothers, William H. Tilton and Homer G. Tilton of Winterset, and three sisters, Mrs. Lenora Cessna of Winterset, Mrs. Myrtle Perkins of Indianola and Mrs. Lillian Murphy of Davenport.
Funeral services with military honors, were held Sunday from the Winterset Christian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Warren Hile. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
