Guy Thrift, a life-long resident of this community, died at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset, Monday morning, Jan. 31, 1955, as result of a heart attack. He had been in failing health for several years and had been a patient at the hospital for several weeks in December with a heart condition. He suffered a recurrence of the condition Sunday morning, and was brought to the hospital in Winterset where his death occurred the next morning.
Mr. Thrift was 61 years of age. He was born in Lincoln township on June 20, 1893, the youngest son of Charley and Deli Harrell Thrift.
He spent his life in Madison county. For many years he was engaged in various enterprises, principally in trucking. During this time he made his home in or near Winterset. In recent years he had operated a farm in Lincoln township.
He was married March 31, 1917, to Beulah Hoxie of Winterset. He is survived by his wife; one son, Wayne Thrift of California; two grandaughters; and a brother, C. B. Thrift of near Winterset.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. W. W. Steinmetz. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
