Robert Leon Jones, Winterset

Funeral services for Robert Leon Jones, 74, were held Mon., Aug. 26 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. David Raines officiating. Mr. Jones died August 22, at Bethesda Care Center where he was a resident.

Born in Madison County March 24, 1917, he was the son of Arthur Cleve and Florence (Nelson) Jones. He lived in Madison County for 35 years, moving to Orient in the 1950s. Mr. Jones married Jeanne Averil Fisher September 25, 1953 in Correctionville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Orient United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife one day previous and a brother.

Survivors include five daughters, Linda Jennings and Rhonda Jones, both of Lorimor; Lyla Monagon of 29 Palms, Calif., Zella Jones of Perry and Sandra Burd of Newton Falls, Ohio; three brothers, Clinton Jones of South Venice, Fla., Ervin Jones of Winterset and Neil Jones of Fountain, Colo.; a sister, Ruby Luetjen of Cole Camp, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
