Mr. Jones was a widely known Winterset business man for 46 years, during which time he operated a jewelry store and watch repair business on the west side of the square. Because of ill health, he retired about four years ago, and had been living in Des Moines for nearly two years.

Mr. Jones was a native of Ida Grove, where he was born Nov. 8, 1888, a son of John and Ida Mae Scott Jones. As a young man he was married at Ottumwa to Genevieve Nugent. Her death occurred in 1929. In 1965 he was married to Mrs. Edo MacMorris of Des Moines, who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Robert Jones, Jr. of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mary L. Miller of Mason City.
