Funeral Services Scheduled For Friday, With Burial at Union Chapel

Mrs. Ocein Jones, a resident of the Winterset community most of her life, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 72 years of age.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Lucas county where she was born a daughter of A. P. (Jackie) and Elizabeth Mead. Early in life the family moved to Madison county where she spent her remaining years.

As a young woman she was married to Joseph Cooper, and they were parents of five sons and four daughters. The husband and father died many years ago. In 1937, she was married to William F. Jones, who also preceded her in death in 1949.

Mrs. Jones was a member of the First Baptist church and Pitzer Relief Corps post No. 117.

Two of her sons, Willard and Harold also preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Alvin Cooper of Chariton and Wayne and Emery Cooper of Winterset; four daughters, Mrs. John Lutz of Panora, Mrs. Charles B. Clark of Dexter, Mrs. John M. Atkins of Rantoul, Ill., and Mrs. Clarence G. Lucas of Winterset; and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Wilson Funeral home with burial in Union Chapel cemetery. The Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset, will officiate.
