Fred Jones Died Dec. 12

Fred R. Jones of Winterset, a life-time resident of Madison county died Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Horton Nursing home here. He was 84 years of age.

Mr. Jones was born in Scott township May 4, 1888, a son of Ben F. and Stella Harrell Jones. His active life was spent in farming until his retirement in 1944, when he moved into Winterset.

He was married, as a young man, to Beulah Holmes, whose death occurred in 1922. On March 2, 1924, he was married to Cleo Bardrick, who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Bulwan of Des Moines, Mrs. Maxine Wilson of St. Charles and Mrs. Winifred Mahan of Winterset. One daughter, Mrs. Lois Banta, preceded him in death.

He also leaves a brother, Melvin H. Jones of Winterset; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Charles Updike, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
