George Ronald Jones, Winterset

George Ronald Jones, 90, of Winterset Care Center South and a former Truro resident, died of a heart ailment Jan. 6, 2000, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday Jan. 10, at the Congregational Christian United Church of Christ in Truro with the Rev. Bob Epperson of Winterset officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

Ronald Jones was born March 21, 1909, to James Francis and Sarah Effie (Harris) Jones of Salina, Kan. He was educated in the Peru schools. He married Gladys May England on April 18, 1936, in Earlham. Ronald, a resident of Truro for most of his life, was a farmer and truck driver. He was a member of the Congregational Christian United Church of Christ in Truro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers. His wife, Gladys, died Jan. 12, 2000.

He is survived by three sons, John Jones of Apache, Okla., Lester Jones (wife Marlene) of Des Moines and George A. Jones (wife Beverly) of Sumner; a brother, Harold E. Jones of Des Moines; a sister, Wilma Thackett of Youngtown, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Congregational Christian United Church of Christ in Truro.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Home in Truro.
