Winterset Madisonian - Wed., December 25, 1946

Charles McNeley, a life-long resident of the Winterset community, died here early Wednesday morning. He was about 70 years of age.

Mr. McNeley was the son of Jake and Minerva McNeley, and was born near Winterset. As a young man he was married to Elizabeth Holloway. They were the parents of two sons and a daughter.

Mr. McNeley's wife died about 30 years ago, and the daughter also preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of the First World war, having served as a soldier in Winterset's Comapny A, 168th Infantry regiment of the Rainbow division, through the western front campaigns in which his company participated. He was a member of the Green-Rogers post of the American Legion.

Mr. McNeley is survived by two sons, Basil McNeley and Robert McNeley; a sister, Mrs. Effie Martin of Winterset, with whom he made his home; and two brothers, Roy McNeley of St. Charles and Arthur McNeley of Oregon.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed as the Madisonian went to press.
