Carolyn Jones Death Recorded

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home for Carolyn H. Jones, 87, who died Friday, Sept. 15, 1978, at Memorial Hospital in Winterset. She was a rural Van Meter resident, living in Madison County about 40 years.

Mrs. Jones was born August 2, 1891, in Clarke County, the daughter of Jefferson and Harriet Gladhill Harsh. She was married on July 24, 1907 to Virgil Earl Jones at Osceola. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1954.

Survivors include three sons, Pearl of Bridgewater, Iowa, Merrill of Fontanelle and Lisle of Indianola; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Nobles of Longmont, Colo., Mrs. Lucille Davis of Greenfield and Mrs. Harriet Thompson of Van Meter; a brother, Leland Harsh of Whittier, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and three sisters.

Officiating at Monday's service was Rev. Charles Updike. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
