IDA THORNBURG, Winterset

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 14, at First United Methodist Church at Harlan, Ia., for Ida Goldie Thornburg, who died at her home in Winterset on Dec. 11, 1981. She was 85 years old.

Born Jan. 16, 1896 in Warren, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Gustavis and Jenny Mae Mallory Smith.

On Feb. 26, 1916 she married Henry Virgil Thornburg in Spencer, Iowa. Mr. Thornburg died in 1928, leaving four daughters, aged 5 to 12 years old.

Over the years Mrs. Thornburg worked as a cook and as a nurse's aid. She moved to Winterset in 1954.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Henry; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by four daughters, Marie Oliver of Winterset, Virginia McNaughton of Harlan, Elaine Bambenek of Ft. Dodge, and Doris Economos of Vancouver, Britiish Columbia; 4 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Burial was at Harlan Cemetery.
