Dean Edward Thornburg, 76, died at his home in New Virginia on October 14, 1993. Services were held October 20, 1993 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Lillian Gallo-Seagren officiating. Burial was at the New Virginia cemetery.
He was born August 30, 1928 in Madison County to Ray and Marie (Sheets) Thornburg. He married Kathryn Cook on January 1, 1959 at Rock Island, Ill.
He graduated from Patterson High School and was a farmer. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.
He is survived by his wife; four step-daughters, Betty Flemming of Winterset, Joann Breese of Attica; Rose Gruder of Brooksville, Fla., and Verna Lee Self of Creston; one stepson, Leonard ReHard of Melcher-Dallas; five brothers, Roy Thornburg of Patterson, Lester Thornburg of Garden Grove, Wayne Thornburg of Prole, Merle Thornburg of Little Rock, Ark., Cecil Thornburg of Des Moines; and three sisters, Darlene Faux of Des Moines, Wanda Bloodgood of Prole and Evelyn Hitchcock of Rogers, Ark.
