Edythe Johnston, St. Charles

Edythe M. Johnston, 77, of St. Charles died of heart failure March 25, 2001, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, March 28) at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Charles Parish. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.

Edythe Johnston was born Jan. 9, 1924, to Cleo A. and Gladys (Hayes) Gamble of Swan. A homemaker, Edythe had lived most of her adult life on farms in Madison County and the St. Charles area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Johnston.

She is survived by a son, Johnnie Johnston of St. Charles; a daughter, Sharry Hanna of St. Charles; five brothers, Robert Gamble and Raymond Gamble, both of St. Charles, Wilbur Gamble of West Des Moines, James Gamble of Piedmont, Okla., and Donnie Gamble of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five sisters, Helen Howard and Delores Gamble, both of St. Charles, Marge Seward of North Glen, Colo., Jeanne White of Norwalk, and Pat Reeves of Osage Beach, Mo.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Charles Parish.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.
