THERESA THOMPSON, Winterset

Theresa Thompson, 89, died of a heart ailment Aug. 5, 2003, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Chris Hartshorn officiating. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by a vigil service at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City.

Theresa Thompson was born Jan. 14, 1914, to Jose and Luz (Sarmiento) Alvarado of Moville. On March 15, 1933, she married Donavan Thompson in Sioux City. A homemaker she had resided for most of her lifetime in Sioux City. In 1991, she moved to Winterset. Theresa was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Joseph and Emil Alvarado; and two sisters, Josephine Alvarado and Christine Gill.

She is survivved by four sons, David Thompson of Culver city, Caif., Michael Thompson of Los Angeles, Calif., Steve Thompson of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Phillip Thompson of Phoenix, Ariz.; four daughters, Ann Winjum of Winterset, Nancie Mulder of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Donna Kinniman of Chathan, Ill., and Louise Salgado of Chicago, Ill.; several grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
