Wednesday, June 4, 1969JOSEPHINE THOMPSON Dies at 77 Years
Mrs. Ralph Thompson, member of a prominent Winterset family, died Friday, May 30, 1969, at Memorial hospital here after an extended illness. She was 77 years of age.
Mrs. Thompson was the former Josephine Wintrode, daughter of John and Flora Hutchings Wintrode. Her father was a prominent banker in this community for many years. She was born in Winterset Sept. 25, 1891, and spent her entire life here.
She was married Feb. 21, 1917, to Ralph B. Thompson, who survives her.
Mrs. Thompson was a life-long member of the First United Presbyterian church here, and was long active in its affairs. She also belonged to a number of local clubs.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fritz Toppenberg of Des Moines; a grandson, John Toppenberg of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two great granddaughters, Shelle and Mary Jo Toppenberg; and a brother, John H. Wintrode of Miami, Fla. A sister, Mrs. Mary Krabiel of Winterset, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday from the First United Presbyterian church in Winterset, conducted by the minister, Rev. John E. Fink. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
