Graveside services for Virginia Appleton Johnson, 89, Winterset, who died July 29 at the Bethesda Care Center where she resided, were held Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Old Tennet Cemetery in Manasquan, N. J.

Born in Buena Vista County, Iowa on June 27, 1899, she was the daughter of O. G. and Ella Barton Akers. She was married to Dr. Ralph Appleton. She was married again to Dr. Harry Johnson.

A homemaker, Mrs. Johnson had lived in Winterset the past three years, coming from Green Valley, Ariz. where she was retired. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands and parents.
