Graveside services for Myrtle Johnson, 99, Winterset, who died Oct. 12 at the Bethesda Care Center, where she resided, were held at the Lorimor Cemetery on Friday Oct. 14, with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating.

Born in Guthrie County on May 6, 1889, she was the daughter of John and Anna Given Handley. Mrs. Johnson was a retired cook, and had lived in Madison County since 1924, coming here from Creston.

She was married to John McCants, who died April 11, 1965 and later married to Walter Johnson.

Survivors include daughters, Hazel Hackley and Grace Lamb, both of Winterset; a sister, Goldie Thomas of Greenfield; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, a daughter and a brother.
