NICKY W. THOMPSON, Baxter

Services for Nicky W. Thompson, 53, Baxter, who died Feb. 8, 1988, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Thursday, Feb. 11, at the Winterset First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Madison County on Sept. 23, 1934, he was the son of Clarence and Harriet Jones Thompson. He was employed at the Maytag plant at Newton and was a member of the UAW local 997 of Maytag.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Baxter; his parents of Van Meter; a son, Stephen and wife Jennifer of Kansas City, Mo.; a stepson, Donald R. Townsend of Pleasantville; a daughter, Paula Jean Rothmeyer and husband John of Perry; stepdaughters, Linda (Mrs. Hal) Murphy of Baxter, Betty (Mrs. Jim) Thornburg of Baxter, and Bonnie (Mrs. Jim) Reeves of Newton; sisters, Maris Snyder of Winterset, Cheryl Wedemeyer of Carlisle, and Doris Shambaugh of Van Meter; four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Betty Conrad.
