MERREL THOMPSON, 79, Died Sunday

Merrel D. Thompson, the son of Silas Madison and Estelle Maude Thompson, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 1978, at his home in rural Lorimor. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Thompson was born June 1, 1899, in Birmingham, Iowa. He was a farmer and had lived in this county 41 years, coming from Arispe, Iowa. His marriage to Loraine Lathrop took place December 20, 1922, in Creston.

Survivors include his wife, Loraine; two sons, Dean Thompson of Maple Glenn, Pa., Paul Thompson of New Virginia, Ia.; three daughters, LaVon Arnold of Murray, Ia., Merlene Dovenbarger of Lincoln, Neb., Delene Honnold of Winterset; two brothers, Doyle Thompson of Paonia, Colo., Orville Thompson of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home with burial at the Lorimor Cemetery. Rev. Charles Updke and Joel DeFord officiated.
