Ines Johnson, Creston

Ines Johnson, 85, of rural Creston, died March 25, 1996 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Funeral services will be March 28, 1:30 p.m. at the Nazarene Church of Creston. The Rev. Dana Wendell will officiate the services and burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City. Visitation will be Wednesday, 7-8 p.m. at the Larkin & Shelley Funeral Home in Creston.

She was born May 16, 1910 in Madison County to Orva and Stella Lane. She graduated in 1925 from Patterson High School with honors. She married Lorange L. Johnson at the Methodist Parsonage in Creston on June 25, 1928. The couple managed a farm and Ines worked as a substitute teacher and drove a school bus. She was also an L.P.N. She was a charter member of the Union Co. Women's Chorus; a member of the Friday Singers; she directed choir and played piano for several churches and was a life-time member of the South Valley Quilters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter; one sister; four brothers; and one grand-daughter.

Surviving relatives include one son, Jerry Johnson and wife Barbara of Linn Creek, Mo.; two brothers, Don Lane and wife LuAnne of Delaware and Phil Lane of Van Meter; special friends, Wayne Buzzard and wife Annie of Keosokua and Stan Harris and wife Rita of Creston; four foster daughters, Patty Russell and husband Chuck of Tiffan, Ohio, Sue Oglesbee and husband Mack of Mercer, Mo., Cynthia Thompson of Concord, Calif., and LaVona Agee and husband Ray of Des Moines; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.
