James D. Thompson, 58, of Winterset died of cancer Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at his home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today, (Wednesday, Feb. 18) at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with Pastor Alberta Ervin officiating. Burial will be in Winterset Cemetery.
James Thompson was born July 11, 1939, in McLean County, N.D., to Leonard and Marian Pfliger Thompson. He married Rosemary Hahn on June 5, 1963, in Washburn, N.D. He was retired from Par Electrical as a journeyman lineman. He also was a member of IBEW Local 55 for 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife; his father of Underwood, N.D.; two sons, Rio J. (wife Roneca) Thompson of Lorimor and Sloan Thompson of Winterset; two daughters, Corinna B. Thompson and Melinda J. Selvaggio, both of Winterset; three brothers, Martin (wife Myrna) Thompson of Osceola, Tom (wife Marlys) Thompson of Big Timber, Mont., and Terry (wife Karla) Thompson of Nashua, Mont.; three sisters, Jean (husband Maynard) Garman of Winterset, Mary Lou O'Dea of Mandan, N.D., and Donna Peterson of Washburn, N.D.; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
