CLARENCE THOMPSON, Winterset

Clarence V. Thompson, 87, died from complications of pneumonia Feb. 10, 1999, at Integrated Health Services in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor L. Duane Churchman officiating. Burial was at North McDonald Cemetery in Jefferson Township, Madison County.

Clarence Thompson was born Oct. 18, 1911, in Madison County to David (Hick) Hickman and Emma Arvilla (Addy) Thompson. He married Harriet M. Jones on Aug. 23, 1933, in Centerville. A lifetime resident of Madison County, Clarence was a retired road maintainer operator for Madison County Secondary Roads. He also was a member of the Patterson United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, one brother and two sisters.

He is survived by three daughters, Maris Snyder (husband Duane) of Patterson, Cheryl Wedemeyer (husband Roy) of Carlisle and Doris F. Shambaugh of Winterset; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
