GLADYS NELSON, Benson, Minn.

Gladys May Nelson, following a year's illness, passed away May 6, 1982 at the Meadow Lane Nursing Home in Benson, Minn. just one day before her 83rd birthday. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Gladys was born May 7, 1899 in Madison County, Iowa, the first daughter of Fletcher and Carrie McDonald.

She was united in marriage to Roy Nelson on February 18, 1923, in Madison County. After a short time, they moved to Appleton, Minnesota and later to a farm south of Benson. When her husband retired from the sale barn busines, they purchased a home in town.

To the union seven children were born: Donald Nelson of Benson; Mrs. Robert (Myrtle) Grace of Pennock, Minn.; Mrs. Roger (Juanita) Hircock of Winterset; Mrs. Edward (Frances) Lagred of Benson; Gene Nelson of Benson; Mrs. Kent (Anna) Stockham of Carroll, Iowa and Margaret Nelson of Willmar, Minn.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 1974. She is survived by seven childen; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother: Clarence McDonald of Winterset; four sisters: Mrs. Blanche Hart of Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Pearl Veed of Hayes, Kansas; Mrs. Alberta Binns of Earlham, and Mrs. Wilbur (Edna) Cregar of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 10, from the First Baptist Church of Benson, with Rev. John Olson officiating. Burial was in the Benson cemetery.
