Death Of JOHN SHUEY

John Shuey, for many years a resident of Winterset, died at his home in Rock Island, Ill., on April 1st, 1925, and was laid to rest in the family burial plot at Bondurant, Iowa, on Monday of this week.

Mr. Shuey, who died at the age of 77 had spent his adult life in the employ of the Rock Island railway and seven years ago, he was given honorable retirement with an annuity in recognition of his long years of faithful service.

His first employment with the road was as brakeman on the main line, soon after the road was built from Davenport to Omaha. In 1871 he was transferred to the Winterset branch, serving as brakeman, baggageman and conductor, and was finally assigned to the Rock Island's fast train between Davenport and Omaha.

He resided in Winterset for 20 years and was held in high esteem by the people of this community. He leaves besides his wife, two daughters, who reside at Boise City, Idaho.
