Memorial services for Pfc. Norman R. Felton of the U.S. Marines who was killed in action on Iwo Jima March 16, will be held in Winterset next Sunday from the Church of Christ.

The rites will open at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Tom Fogleson, pastor of the church, will have charge, assisted by the American Legion.

Private Felton was killed during the final stages of the conquest of Iwo Jima, while serving with the Fifth Marine division.

He is the son of Mrs. Francis Felton of Lorimor. He lived at Winterset for a time prior to entering the service, and his wife, the former Esther Hircock, and their two small children, live in Winterset.

NORMAN R. FELTON

Norman R. Felton, son of Mrs. Francis Felton of Lorimor, was born at Ventura, Nov. 12, 1921, and was killed in action March 16, 1945 in the battle of Iwo Jima, South Pacific.

He was married to Ester Hircock June 6, 1942, and leaves to mourn besides his wife, two sons, Keith, two years old, and Kenny, one year old. Also his mother and father, three sisters, Mrs. Lola Williams of Dallas Center, Mrs. Fern Berry of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Florence Cannan of Ventura, two brothers, George of North Hollywood, Calif., and Lester of Lincoln, Neb.

Norman joined the marines Jan. 7, 1944, and was a Pfc. He lived near Winterset for a time prior to entering the service of his country. He was killed toward the final stages of the Iwo Jima campaign while serving with the Fifth Marine division.

Memorial services were held at the Winterset Church of Christ at 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, June 10, 1945. The Rev. Tom Foglesong officiated, with the American Legion assisting.
