Charles C. Guilliams, one of Madison county's most prominent citizens, who served for 35 years as a bank cashier at St. Charles, died suddenly last Thursday at his home there. Death was caused by a heart attack. He was 66 years of age.

Mr. Guilliams' entire life was spent as a resident of this county. He was born Feb. 29, 1879 on the old Guilliams homestead near Union Chapel, his parents being Benton and Jennie Guilliams. He was graduated from the St. Charles school in 1898, and attended the Capitol City Commercial college in Des Moines.

In 1905 he was married to Carrie E. Johnston of St. Charles. He went into the Johnston bank there as a cashier, serving in that capacity for 35 years. He was a member of the Masonic order, Eastern Star Consistery, and the Shrine. He was also a member of the Methodist church in St. Charles.

He is survived by his wife; one brother, E. E. guilliams of Winterset; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Street of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Flora Schultz of Indianola.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Methodist church in St. Charles in charge of the Rev. J. A. Kettle, assisted by the Rev. Marguerite Shepard of the Christian church. Burial was made with Masonic rites in the St. Charles cemetery.
