Delmar "Del" Thomas Jeneary, 76, of Winterset, died of renal failure Aug. 7, 1999 at Madison County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 10 at Ochiltree Funeral Service with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Masonic services were performed by Evening Star Lodge 43. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with military honors presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184.
Del Jeneary was born July 7, 1923 to Elmer H. and Fern (Holland) Jeneary of Kankakee, Ill. On Sept. 7, 1946, he married Barbara "Robin" Killinger in Carson, Iowa. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 41st Division, 163rd Combat Infantry in New Guinea. He attended Drake University, receiving a bachelor of fine arts degree, master of education degree and a post graduate certificate for administrative education. Del taught English and drama in several school systems, including Winterset from 1950-1956. He also was a superintendent for Tennant, Mitchellville, Grand Junction, Oxford Junction and West Liberty school systems in Iowa. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge (32nd Degree Mason), the United Methodist Church of Winterset and Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three grandsons.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Deborah Bergstrom (husband Dr. Thomas); sons, Dr. Thomas Jeneary (wife Pam) of LeMars and Scott Jeneary of London, England; and two grandsons.
