Wednesday, March 7, 1945James Samuel Hodson, a resident of Madison county since 1892, died last Friday at the Lane Nursing home in Winterset. He was 83 years of age.
Mr. Hodson was a native of Ohio, where he was born at Columbus on April 5, 1861, the son of Henry and Lucy Hodson. His early years were spent in Ohio and in Illinois where his parents moved while he was still a boy. In 1884 he moved to Columbus, Neb.
He was married, in Nebraska, to Carrie Smith in 1885. She died three years later. He then moved to Wayne, Neb., where he was married to Emma C. Klever on Dec. 30, 1891. Shortly after that they moved to Madison county, where they spent the greater part of their lives, moving into Winterset a few years ago. Mrs. Hodson died in 1944.
Mr. Hodson had been in failing health for several months. He spent several weeks in the local hospital, and then was taken to the Lane Nursing home where his death occurred.
His nearest surviving relative is a brother, Guy Hodson of Milan, Ill.
Funeral services were held from the Winterset Methodist church Monday, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. W. A. Samp. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
