A Funeral Mass for Joseph Laurence Devore, who became an angel in heaven on Aug. 5, 2006, was held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 9) at St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement Church in rural Cumming. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 3–8 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. A scripture service was held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in Joseph’s name.

Joseph was born May 19, 2006. He touched many lives in his short time and is survived by his loving mother and father, Jan and Travis Devore; brothers Nicholas and Jonathan and sister Elizabeth Devore; his grandparents, Jon and Jo Ann Wiegert of Prole, Dallas and Martha Bosomworth of Adel, Jim and Kathy Mallison of Hot Springs, Ark., and Gene and Vana Devore of Clive; his great-grandparents, Al and Shirley Faber of Johnston and Laurence Wiegert of Martensdale; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Francis and Margaret Dooley.
