JOHN JAMES, 76, DIED HERE LAST WEDNESDAY

John James, a life-long resident of this county, died here Wednesday of last week at the age of 76 years.

Mr. James was born near Winterset on June 15, 1868, the son of Nathan and Lizzie James, who were pioneer residents of this community. His only surviving near relative is a half-brother, Morris Carter of California.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. W. P. Gordon, pastor of the United Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Services Held For John James

John James died April 4, at the county farm north of town, after a short illness, at the age of 77.

He was born in Madison county June 15, 1868, the son of Nathan and Lizzie James. When he was quite young, he left Madison county, returning in 1882, where he remained until his death. He was a member of the local Four Square church.

Only survivors are one half-brother, Maurice Carter in California, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Harry James of St. Charles and a nephew, Evan James.

Funeral services were held at the Ramsey–Richards funeral home, April 6 with Rev. William Gordon officiating. Burial took place in Winterset cemetery.
