John H. McLaughlin, a life-long resident of Lee township, died last Friday at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines, after an illness of several weeks. He was 73 years of age.

Mr. McLaughlin was born in Lee township and spent his entire life there. He was married in 1900 to Julia Horan, who survives him.

In addition he leaves two sons, John J. McLaughlin of Winterset and Clarence McLaughlin of Lorimor; four daughters, Mrs. James Lynch of Cumming, Mary McLaughlin of Des Moines, Mrs. Florence Sullivan of Fort Dodge, and Mrs. James Davitt of Fairfield; in addition to 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday from St. Patrick's Catholic church in Lee township, and burial was made in the cemetery there.

Services Monday For John H. McLaughlin

John H. McLaughlin, 73 year old lifetime resident of Lee township of this county, died at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines Friday evening after an illness of several months. He had farmed all of his life.

John McLaughlin was born January 26, 1872, the son of Michael and Susan McLaughlin. He married to Julie Horan of his same community in 1900 and they were the parents of six children. His wife and children all survive. He was a member of St. Patrick’s church in Lee township.

The daughters are: Mrs. James Lynch of Cumming, Mrs. James Davitt of Fairfield, Mrs. Gerald Sullivan of Ft. Dodge and Mary McLaughlin of Des Moines. The sons are: Clarence of Lorimor and John J. McLaughlin who resides in Winterset and is a member of Iowa Triple A committee. Two sisters survive; Mrs. John Linanne of Bevington and Mrs. Susie Aylward of Cumming.

Funeral services were held at St. Patrick’s church Monday at 9:30 a.m., conducted by Father Reynolds. Interment was made in the St. Patrick’s cemetery.
