Mrs. W. C. Smith of the Blair Chapel neighborhood, died at her home Sunday, Jan. 28th at the age of 72 years. The Rev. W. A. Samp conducted her funeral services at the Blair Chapel church Jan. 30th.

Mrs. Smith was the former Susie I. Shafer, daughter of D. W. and M. C. Shafer. She was born at Pella, Sept. 27, 1872, and resided there with her parents until in 1893, when she moved with her parents to a farm in Warren county, located between Bevington and Martensdale.

In 1901 she was married to Will C. Smith of Blair Chapel. In 1903 they moved to Cass county, but returned to Iowa in 1906. They were the parents of two sons, Roy Everett and William Daniel. The latter died in 1921.

The Smiths have also resided in Minnesota and Kossuth county, but in 1929 they returned to the farm of the W. R. Smith estate, which has since been their home.

She is survived by her husband and their one son, Roy, an aunt, Sarah Wallick of Monroe, and two nieces and three nephews.
