Charles A. Ballentine, a long-time resident of this county, died suddenly here last Saturday after collapsing on a downtown Winterset street. He was 76 years of age.

Mr. Ballentine was born in Madison county on Jan. 16, 1868, and spent most of his life here. His wife, who was the former May Aikin of DeSoto, died about 15 years ago.

He is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. May Wilson and Miss Jean Ballentine of Hagerstown, Md.; in addition to a brother and several sisters.

Funeral services were held here Wednesday from the Anderson Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Jefferson U.B. cemetery.
