Frances R. Harrell, member of a pioneer Scott township family, died at the Winterset hospital early Tuesday morning after a long illness. She was 80 years of age, and had been at the local hospital for several months.

Miss Harrell was a native of Indiana, where she was born in Jackson county on April 26, 1864, the daughter of Daniel I. and Frances Indiana Dryden Harrell. She came to this county with her parents in 1871, making the trip in a covered wagon. The family settled in Scott township, where she lived until about 1898, when she came to Winterset. Since that time her home had been in Winterset.

Her nearest surviving relative is her sister, Mrs. B. F. Jones of Winterset with whom she had made her home the past 14 years. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this Thursday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
