Funeral services for Laura A. Cook, a former resident, who died at Alva, Okla., on Oct. 27, were held from the Macksburg Methodist church, and burial was made in the Moon cemetery.

Miss Cook was the daughter of S. W. and Cynthia Ann Cook, and was born Nov. 3, 1879, near Mt. Pleasant. The family lived for many years near Macksburg. She attended college in Des Moines and the Central Normal College at Alva after which she taught school for a number of years in Oklahoma and Iowa. She later took up secretarial work, holding positions in Des Moines, Kansas City, and Minneapolis.

For the past 14 years she had made her home with her sister, Mrs. B. C. Dole of Alva, Okla. In addition to Mrs. Dole, she leaves another sister, Mrs. W. L. Cochran of Lorimor, and two brothers, Leonard Cook of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Alven Cook of Osceola.
