Wednesday, November 8, 1944Charles M. Thomas, long-time resident of the Macksburg community, died last Saturday at his home in Macksburg. He was 80 years of age, and had been ill since Dec. 25, 1941.
Mr. Thomas was the son of Louis and Emily Thomas, and was born Oct. 20, 1864, at Pilot Grove in Lee county.
He was married to Emma J. Addington on Dec. 22, 1889. They were the parents of three children, one of whom died in 1895.
He is survived by his wife; two children, Orin Thomas of Creston, and Mrs. Mabel McKee of Macksburg; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Leona Cramer of Liberty, Mo.; and a brother, John Thomas of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Macksburg Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. J. E. Euglund. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery there.
