ROBERT ALEXANDER Died Saturday

Robert Alexander was born March 13, 1915 in Union township, the son of Fred and Elsie McDonald Alexander, and died at a doctor's office in Stuart Saturday, August 28th, 1971.

Mr. Alexander grew up in Madison county and attended Winterset High School. He had lived in Des Moines for a number of years where he was employed by Beatrice Foods for 23 years, until retiring two years ago.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, 12 grandchildren, a brother, Raymond Alexander of Winterset and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Diser of Liscomb and Mrs. Ruby Smith of St. Charles.

Funeral services were held from the Link Funeral Home in Stuart Monday afternoon with burial in the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

William Robert Alexander, son of Frederick John and Harriet McDonald Alexander was born March 13, 1912 in Madison County and died August 28, 1971 at Stuart, Iowa. His age was 59 years, 5 months and 15 days.

His early life was spent near Winterset where he was engaged in farming. In 1932 he was united in marriage to Wilma Helen Estell who passed away in 1934. In 1935 he moved to Pomona, California where he was engaged in business. On June 15, 1937 he was united in marriage to Helen Pote. This marriage was blessed with four sons, LeRoy, Bill, Bob and Jim. In 1945 the family moved to Stuart, Iowa. He was associated with Beatrice Food of Des Moines for 23 years from which he retired in December, 1969. In 1961 the family moved to their present home in Des Moines. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Des Moines and I.O.O.F.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Mac Alexander.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, four sons, Frederick LeRoy of Ankeny, William Irvin of Victor, Robert Louis of Des Moines and James Dale of Broomfield, Colorado; four daughters-in-law and 12 grandchildren; one brother Raymond of Winterset, Ia., and two sisters, Ethel (Mrs. L. V.) Diser of Liscomb, Iowa and Ruby (Mrs. Bruce) Smith of St Charles, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was a good, kind husband and father. The lives and happiness of his children was his greatest concern. He will be greatly missed.

Services were held Monday, August 30 from the Link Funeral Home in Stuart, Iowa with Rev. Michael Bilken officiating. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Dale Lomax and Mrs. Gladys Walton. Music was provided by Robert Lawson, organist, and Mrs. James Trowbridge and Mrs. Cyrus Earhart, vocalists.

Pallbearers were Dale Lomax, Fred Caulkins, Paul Fitz, Leo Wissler, Kenneth Stewart, and Andrew Hansen.

Interment was in Glendale cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa.
