Wednesday, November 1, 1944Appauline Elizabeth Silliman, last surviving member of a pioneer Madison county family, died Monday at the age of 79 years.
Miss Silliman was a life-long resident of this county. She was born July 7, 1865, the daughter of J. R. and Nancy Silliman. She was the youngest of 10 children, all of whom preceded her in death.
Her early life was spent on the old family home in Scott township. In later years she did practical nursing until her health failed.
She was a life-time member of the United Presbyterian church, having united with that church in Old Peru.
Her nearest surviving relatives are a sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles Silliman, and 14 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday from Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. W. P. Gordon, pastor of the United Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
