BYRON JACKSON OF LORIMOR DIES

Byron Jackson of Lorimor, long-time resident of Madison and Union counties, died Sunday, May 14 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 88 years of age and had been in failing health for several months.

A son of Jefferson and Zantippee Jackson, he was born March 14, 1879 at Battle Creek, Nebr. He came to Iowa as a young man and spent his active life in farming.

He was married, as a young man, to Gertie Hiskey. They were parents of three daughters and one son. Her death occurred in 1955.

He was reared in the Baptist faith.

Surviving are the four children, Mrs. Laura Handley of New Virginia, Mrs. Vada Shelley of Winterset, Ralph Jackson of Peru and Helen at home. He also leaves three grandsons; one great grandson; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Tilton, and Mrs. Ethel Ward of Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. Margaret Demick of Nampa, Ida.; and a brother Ed Jackson of Alliance, Nebr.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Watts and Soll Funeral home in Lorimor, conducted by the Rev. Walter Williams. Burial was made in the Barney cemetery.
