IMBODEN FUNERAL AT PENN CENTER

Funeral services were held Friday from the Penn Center Methodist church for Mrs. Roy A. Imboden of Earlham, whose death had occurred July 1 at her home there.

The Rev. John M. Latta and the Rev. Ward Young conducted the services. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.

Mrs. Imboden was a resident of Penn township for most of her life. She was the former Ruth Ida Hawkins, daughter of A. A. and Emma Hawkins and was born at Delmar on June 30, 1889.

She was a member of the Penn Center Methodist church and the Women's Society of Christian Service in that church. She was affiliated with the Friendly circle of Earlham and Chautauqua circle of Earlham.

She was married at Earlham Dec. 13, 1911 to Roy A. Imboden, whose death occurred Oct. 3, 1964. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jasper Lenocker of Earlham, Mrs. J. M. Knouf of San Antonio, Tex., and Mrs. William L. Jackson of Des Plaines, Ill. She also leaves eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Alpha Hawkins of Fremont, Nebr.; and three sisters, Mrs. Olive Sheldon of Indianola, Mildred Hawkins of Glenwood, and Mrs. Mary May of San Jose, Calif.

Ruth Ida Hawkins, daughter of A. A. Hawkins and Emma Kneen Hawkins, was born June 30, 1889, in Delmar, Iowa. She passed away July 1, 1968 at her apartment in Earlham, Iowa.

She was united in marriage December 13, 1911, to Roy A. Imboden, in Earlham, Ia. To them were born three children, Olive, Lillis and Margery. She spent most of her life in Penn township, Madison county, Iowa. She was active in her church, the Penn Center Methodist Church, and in later years attended the Earlham Methodist church. She was a member of the Penn Center Woman’s Society of Christian Service and also the Woman’s Society of the Earlham Church. She belonged to the Chautauqua Circle of Earlham, as well as the Friendly Circle. She was a friendly person and a fine Christian lady. She gave an electric organ to the Penn Center Church out of her love for good music in worship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oct. 3, 1964; her parents, two sisters, one brother, and three half-sisters.

Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Jasper (Olive) Lenocker, Earlham, Ia., Mrs. J. M. Kneuf (Lillis), of San Antonia, Texas; and Mrs. Wm. L. (Margery) Jackson, of Des Plaines, Illinois. There are eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, also one brother: Alpha Hawkins, Fremont, Nebraska; and three sisters: Olive Sheldon of Des Moines, Ia., Mildred Hawkins, of Glenwood, Ia., and Mary Manatt May of San Jose, California.

She will long be remembered as an intelligent, active, and altruistic person, and will be deeply missed in this community.

Final rites were held July 5th at the Penn Center Methodist Church, with Rev. John Latta and Rev. Ward Young officiating. Burial was in the Penn Center Cemetery. Mrs. LaVere McCleary furnished selections on the organ.
